Abstract

A review covers principles and features of supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) of polluting compounds, e.g., carbon tetrachloride and 1,1,1-trichloroethane; projects under operation; progress of research; and salt precipitation and corrosion problems of SCWO looked upon as bottleneck in industrial application of the process. A suggestion for future research and development in SCWO field is also put forward.
