N2 - Based on the principle of binocular parallax, this paper designs a simple, practical, fast and convenient passive real-time video monitoring ranging system. The system realizes the real-time video monitoring ranging algorithm of the system and analyzes the accuracy and the error of the ranging system. By doing experiments, the algorithm turns out to be of simple ranging method, good real-time and stability, high accuracy and simple equipments. Another advantage: the system doesn't send signals while working, so it is convenient to conceal yourself, thus having a high safety. Therefore, the system has great application values in the fields like air defense for strategic points, land and sea defense monitoring, real-time monitoring of the battlefield, etc.
