A Piecewise Linear Interface Capturing VOSET Method Based on Unstructured Grids

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

A VOSET interface reconstruction technology based on unstructured grids, is presented for simulating incompressible two phase flows. The main feature of this method is that the signed distance function is obtained by an iterative geometric operation. Thus the present method can not only compute the surface tension with good accuracy but also smooth the discontinuous physical parameters (density, viscosity) near the interface. Finally, the proposed method is validated by the classical time-reversed, single vortex flow problem. The results show the present VOSET method is of high accuracy, and is superior to the traditional VOF methods.
