Abstract

A novel three-level zero-voltage-switching active neutral-point-clamped converter is presented in this paper. The proposed soft-switching topology employs only two auxiliary switches, two auxiliary diodes, one coupled magnetic to assist the main devices in each phase leg. The zero-voltage turning-on of main switches is achieved and there is no reverse recovery on diodes; besides that the auxiliary devices switch at soft-switching condition. Meanwhile, voltage stress of all switching devices is clamped to half of the DC-link voltage and the current rating of auxiliary devices is much smaller than that of main devices. The control scheme is simple, no additional sensor is needed and the feature of normal PWM strategy is detained. The operation principle is analyzed and simulation results verify the analysis.
