N2 - The soft open point (SOP) technology plays an important role in enabling flexible power regulation within distribution networks, making it essential for the advancement of grid modernization. However, traditional SOP topologies often encounter challenges, such as the need for a large number of submodules and suboptimal efficiency. This paper introduces a novel approach to interconnecting 10 kV medium-voltage distribution networks, the Multiplexing Module Soft Open Point (MM-SOP), utilizing high-voltage SiC MOSFETs. The MM-SOP design offers modular features and allows for independent power control between two feeders. This paper outlines the principles behind the MM-SOP topology and its control strategies. Simulations of 10 kV feeder interconnections demonstrate the practicality of the MM-SOP topology and validate the effectiveness of the proposed control and energy balancing strategies.
