Abstract

Distributed Active Inductor is proposed dedicated to the D-FACTS application. Distributed Active Inductor is capable to generate both positive inductor and negative inductor, which makes significant sense in active power flow control. Control of Distributed Active Inductor contains AC-side Magnetic Flux control and DC-side equivalent resistor control. Distributed Active Inductor switched among three operation modes. Bypass mode can be achieved by proper control of its switching network but an additional mechanic switch. Steady-state and dynamic performance of Distributed Active Inductor are verified by simulation and experiment. The results proved that Distributed Active Inductor is capable to perform as a positive inductor and a negative inductor both in steady state and transient.
