Abstract

High-voltage direct current transmission is a safe and efficient technology to deliver large amounts of electricity over a long distance. The number of the submodules in a voltage sourced converter high-voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC) station is usually up to hundreds. Therefore, for the manufacturer, it is necessary to establish a test platform to test the submodules quickly and conveniently. In this paper, we propose a novel circuit topology for the VSC-HVDC submodules testing. The experimental verification of the topology using a lab-scale prototype is provided.
