Abstract

This paper presents a novel Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) for the digital control switched DC-DC converter aiming at dynamic voltage scaling (DVS) power management applications, in which the power supply voltage can be dynamically regulated to meet the minimum voltage value required by the system's specific performance. A novel adaptive delay-tracking technique is proposed. A dynamically scaling voltage ranged from 1.3V to 3.05V is obtained corresponding to a control clock frequency ranged from 0 MHz to 35MHz. An extremely low power consumption of 4.5μA/MHz is obtained. The designed ADC is implemented and verified in a digital controlled Buck converter, which achieves a DVS function with a fast response and high stability.
