Abstract
A mathematical model of pulverized coal ignition was established by comprehensively taking account of the main factors that influence the ignition of the pulverized coal stream. Through analysis and simplification for the physical process of pulverized coal ignition, the important parameters such as burner structure, operational condition, etc. were introduced, and a dimensionless criterion number Co was derived. The calculation results indicate that with the increase of Co, the ignition characteristic of pulverized coal stream is improved and the emission concentrations of the pollutants are reduced. The above mentioned conclusion was verified by the hot test. Results show that the dimensionless number Co can be applied to boilers with different burner structures, different coal ranks and different capacities, which offers reference basis for the optimized design of burner, the effective utilization of fuel and control of pollutants emission.
