Abstract

In this paper a low-profile, broadband antenna with monopole like radiation pattern is proposed for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) and Ultrawideband (UWB) applications. The antenna consists of three vertical triangular radiators and a top loading circular patch with an annular slot. The electrical dimension of the proposed antenna is 0.24 λ0× 0.24 λ0 × 0.061 λ0 where λ0 is the minimum operating wavelength in free space. The voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of the antenna can achieve 2:1 over 2.4-13 GHz band. The numerical results show that the radiation pattern is omnidirectional over the whole operating frequency.
