Abstract

This paper proposes a four-arm helical phased array antenna (PAA) based on low temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) technology operating in the frequency range of 27-33 GHz. The antenna element is excited by a coaxial port, and a two-layer T-type power divider feeding network is employed to provide four outputs with equal amplitude and 90° phase difference. An 8 × 8 PAA configuration with sequential rotation feeding is adopted to improve the axial ratio (AR) performance. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed array achieves a 6 GHz (20%) bandwidth, a peak realized gain of 21 dBi, and an array AR almost lower than 3.5 dB at a scan angle of 60°. The proposed design provides an effective solution for Ka-band PAA communication antennas.
