Abstract

This paper presents a finite mixture three-parameter Weibull model to analyze the distribution of the wind speed data. The parameters in the model are estimated by using EM algorithm. The model is applied to fit the distribution of a lattice-point wind speed sequence from NCEP reanalysis data. The result shows that compared with the typical Weibull model, the model presented in this paper is more suitable for describing the probability distribution of wind speed data.
