Abstract

Pure spinel Li4Ti5O12 is successfully synthesized via a one-step spray pyrolysis method without further treatment. The powders are spherical with a narrow particle-size distribution of an average diameter of 0.5-1 μm and no aggregation. The purity and electrochemical properties of Li4Ti5O12 powders are strongly affected by the synthesized temperature. The optimum preparation temperature of the single pure Li4Ti5O12 is 900 °C and the initial discharge capacity is up to 168.6 mAh/g at 0.1°C rate with a good cycling performance.
