Abstract

A dual fitness function, which provides a threshold distinguishing the global optimum basin of a fitness function from local optimum basin, is applied to improve the simple genetic algorithms. The resultant genetic algorithm, with the mutation probability being adjusted adaptively, is of much greater global optimization capability. The new algorithm has been applied to a geometry inverse design of a practical aerodynamic diffuser blade. The numerical simulations show that it is not only feasible but also reliable and efficient.
