Abstract

In this paper, besides considering the energy saving of an HVAC system, we consider to improve the satisfaction of the human comfort, such as temperature, humidity and carbon dioxide concentration. A decentralized method based on OO (ordinal optimization) is proposed to search for a good enough control strategy of the HVAC system. As it is hard to solve this problem in a centralized way, we divide the whole HVAC system into several subsystems. By using the ordinal optimization approach, each subsystem obtains its local good enough control strategy with local information. The good enough control strategy for the whole system can be then obtained by exchanging information among the neighbor subsystems. Numerical results demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed decentralized ordinal optimization method compared with the centralized optimization method.
