Abstract

A new cubic equation of state (EoS) was proposed to address the lack of repulsion terms in conventional cubic EoSs, with a molar critical compressibility factor Zc = 0.273 and suitable for most molecular fluids. Similar to Soave-Redlich-Kwong (SRK) EoS, its α-function is related to the fluids’ acentric factors by fitting with 44 molecular fluids. Differently, the new EoS can pass the α-consistency test, confirming the robustness across all temperatures. With only three parameters (ac, b, m) to be determined, it is as convenient as the SRK EoS in application. But it is more accurate - tested against experimental data - for both single and multi-component fluids than SRK EoS.
