A 225-mA binary searching digital LDO with transient enhancement

Abstract

This paper presents a digital LDO (DLDO) which using binary searching method for fast load tracking. A binary searching controller is designed to implement the-searching algorithm. An error cancellation module is designed to reduce steady-state error. And a transient enhancement module with small coupling capacitor is designed to reduce undershoots. Simulation results show that the designed DLDO can provide up to 225 mA load current with only 0.1 V dropout voltage. Only 80 ns transient settling time is required when the load current changes between 10 mA and 225 mA. The maximum current efficiency is up to 99.78%.
