Abstract

The data of gonorrhea cases reported in 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions from 2004 to 2017 provided by the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention was analyzed. From 2004 to 2012, the reported incidence of gonorrhea showed a continuous downward trend with an average annual de ̄cline by 9.71%. Since 2012, the incidence of gonorrhea gradually increased, with an annual increase rate of 5.90% from 2012 to 2017. The areas with high incidence of gonorrhea were mainly in the southeast coastal provinces, including Zhejiang, Shanghai, Guangdong and Fujian. However, in recent years, the incidence of gonorrhea had increased rapidly in Hainan, Yunnan and Guizhou provinces. Sexually active people between 20 and 35 years old were at high risk of gonorrhea. In addition, the incidence of gonorrhea increased most rapidly in the age groups of 10-20 years and 50 years.
