Abstract

Membranes for oil water separation from complex mixtures often show low efficiency and poor adaptability. A method for multi-component oil-contaminated water separation was proposed based on wettability difference of various liquids. Micro/nanoscale Ag structure was constructed on copper mesh surface via in-situ replacement to obtain superhydrophilic-underwater superoleophobic properties. The prepared mesh film was further modified in PDDA-PFO/SiO2 solution to have superhydrophilic- superoleophobic properties. The results show that these two meshes have good separation performance for different oil-water mixtures with separation efficiencies over 98%. The further modified mesh has higher separation efficiency. In addition, both meshes can be reused for over 10 times without performance degradation. These results indicate that the prepared meshes have good separation efficiency and durability.
