Abstract
Researchers have been paying attention to underwater electrical wire explosion which is important in basic research of warm dense plasma and strong shock wave generation. Based on a large number of experimental results and diagnostic results of a variety of precision diagnostic systems, researchers have a deeper understanding and grasp of the basic physical processes and basic physical laws of underwater electrical wire explosion, and have established a variety of simulation models. Some important research results in this field have been obtained. Based on the extensive research of domestic and foreign existing literatures, the electrical and shock wave characteristics of underwater electrical wire explosion are described, the influences of wire parameters, electrical parameters and water parameters on the underwater electrical wire explosion are summarized, and the relevant simulation models including specific action model, similarity parameters model and magnetohydrodynamic model are introduced in this paper. As a supplement, the research on wire array implosion and various applications of underwater electrical wire explosion including shock wave generation and nano-powder production are also reviewed. At last, it is pointed out further research is needed in the measurement of the wire density and shock wave, phase change and breakdown during the wire explosion.
