Abstract
Supercritical water circulating fluidized bed coal gasification is a new promising technology with efficient and clean utilization of coal. A thorough understanding of flow characteristics is the basis for rational design of reactor. In this paper, a three-dimensional full-loop simulation of supercritical water circulating fluidized bed is conducted based on multi-phase particle-in-cell (MPPIC) method coupled with an energy-minimization multi-scale (EMMS) model. And the effects of operating parameters, such as temperature, initial solid inventory and fluidized gas velocity in the riser on the flow characteristics, such as solid mass flux, pressure drop in the riser and time averaged radial voidage distribution, are studied. Which is of great importance for the design and optimization of supercritical water circulating fluidized bed reactor.
