Abstract

The endowment characteristics of China's energy source determine that the status of coal as the main energy source is difficult to change in the short term. To be sure, coal resources in Western China are playing the core role of independent supply of basic energy. However, the western coal is mostly located in the desert-loess covered ecologically fragile area which is arid and semi-arid area. The area is susceptible to the disturbance of mining which causes the destruction of groundwater and ecological environment. Therefore, achieving the coordinated development of safe and efficient coal mining and ecological environment protection has become an inevitable choice for the exploitation of coal resources in the ecologically fragile areas of Western China. Based on the actual situation of coal resources development in Western China, four scientific issues were proposed to realize coal green mining in ecologically fragile mining areas of Western China: ① clarifying the characteristics of coal-water spatial growth combination is; ② mastering the change rule of geological conditions during mining process; ③ realizing the zoning of water conservation mining and the discrimination of geological basis; ④ building technology system of coal detraction mining in Western China, and elaborating its development status and key problems. The development concept of coal green-detraction mining in ecologically fragile areas of Western China was put forward. The challenges of the future development of mining technology were sorted out. Relevant research is expected to provide a certain reference value for coal green mining in ecologically fragile areas of Western China.
