Abstract
Diphenyl silicone rubber (DPVMQ) and monophenyl silicone rubber (MPVMQ) have been synthesized by an anionic ring-opening polymerization method using tetramethylammonium hydroxide as a catalyst. The effects of varying the type and content of phenyl substituents on the properties of the silicone rubber composites were investigated. The results show that the torque differences in the rubber compounds decrease with increasing phenyl content in the main chain of the silicone rubber, while, the tensile strength of both rubbers initially increases and then decreases. DPVMQ exhibited superior tensile properties to MPVMQ. With increasing phenyl content, the loss peaks of both DPVMQ and MPVMQ move towards higher temperature, but the effective damping temperature range of DPVMQ is wider and the temperature corresponding to the loss peak is higher. The tensile strength retention rate of DPVMQ and MPVMQ after irradiation increased with increasing phenyl content. After irradiation, the tensile strength retention rate of DPVMQ with a phenyl content of 25% was 88.9%.
