Abstract

Transportation system is an important energy consumption sector. With rapid development of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) including electric vehicles (EVs) and natural gas vehicles (GVs), the coupling has been greatly enhanced among transportation, power, gas and other energy supply networks. Considering the emerging energy and transportation systems, this paper incorporates the coupling among EV, GV and energy systems, and proposes an optimal planning model and method for urban integrated energy systems to coordinate the expansion of energy infrastructure and AFV refueling station. First, based on the road network and traffic flow constraints, the refueling demand of AFVs is analyzed and the constraints for refueling stations are obtained. Second, the optimal integrated planning model is developed with energy system operation constraints and the solution method is provided. Finally, the case studies based on a real-world urban network verify the validity and feasibility of the proposed model and method. The results show that the coordinated planning is necessary and can improve the operation efficiency while reducing the investment cost. Ignoring the synergy may cause congestion of power lines and gas pipelines.
