Abstract
As a new way to realize the mass individualization manufacturing paradigm, the concept of social manufacturing was in its early development stage, and it had caused many troubles for the researcher in the study for its similarities with other advanced manufacturing and mass individualization ideas, such as peer production, outsourcing and virtual enterprise. For these problems, the overlapping concept boundaries between social manufacturing and other similar paradigm ideas were analyzed and delimited. Based on canvas model, a comparative analysis of these similar concepts included core resources, key business, major partners, value proposition, customer segmentation, channel communication, customer relationship, cost structure and value source was made. On this basis, the discussion was detailed from a multi-dimension perspective included customer participation, product servitization, prosumer relationship, knowledge structure, product life cycle and value engineering, which laid a solid theoretic foundation for further research.
