Abstract

Esophageal atresia is a common and severe neonatal defect. Traditional surgery causes great trauma and has a high incidence of postoperative complications. Magnetic compression technique has been employed for gastroenteric anastomosis. Many clinical reports dealt with the recanalization of biliary stricture and the advantages of anastomosis are diverse. However, domestic and international applications of magnetic compression technique are rather limited for pediatric esophageal atresia/stenosis. Specific operative routes and handling procedures were proposed. Also the feasibility, indications, selection of magnets and prevention of restenosis were explored.
