Abstract
The effects of non-equal replacement of carbon black (N234) by multi-wall array carbon nanotube bundles (CNTBs) with different aspect ratios on the processing properties and static mechanical properties of natural rubber nanocomposites have been studied. It was found that as the aspect ratio and the amount of CNTBs increased, the processing properties of the nanocomposites deteriorated, and the vulcanization rate decreased. However, the phenomenon of reversion was reduced and processing safety improved. The static mechanical properties of the material were gradually improved as nano-enhancement effects appeared. The material strain was analyzed by using the Mooney Rivlin model, and the relationship between the aspect ratio of CNTBs and the strain-induced crystallization starting point was identified. In addition, the tear strength of the material was improved significantly, which is mainly due to the high specific surface area of CNTBs.
