Abstract
A motor direct-driven actuator was designed to enhance the performance of fast earth switch (FES). This motor direct-driven actuator includes mechanical drive, main circuit of motor, and digital signal processor (DSP) for control with peripheral circuits. And the main circuit section of motor includes a rectifier circuit, a capacitor discharge circuit, and an inverter circuit. The DSP uses the TMS320F28335 from Texas Instruments, and its peripheral circuit includes an IGBT power driver board, a current acquisition circuit, and a speed/position acquisition circuit. The control algorithm of whole system was simulated in MATLAB/Simulink, and the results indicate that the motor direct-driven actuator can meet the requirements for FES closing operation. In addition, characteristic test of an FES equipped with the motor direct-driven operating mechanism showed that its closing speed meets the requirements of parameters, verifying the correctness of the design.
