Abstract

The shortage of freshwater resources has become one of the urgent problems to be solved in China. In this study, the natural biomass material paste glue was introduced and it was used together with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as the hydrogel skeleton, and polypyrrole (Ppy) was used as the light absorbent to prepare a hydrogel evaporator (SHE) with a double network structure. In addition, the material was used for desalination of unconventional water sources such as brackish water, produced water and oily sewage. The results show that, when dealing with non-conventional water sources with high salinity, the maximum interfacial rate of SHE can reach the value of 3. 40 kg · m-2· h-1, the light absorbent rate can reach 96. 7%, and the efficiency of energy usage can amount to 96. 8%. The desalting and pollution reduction effect is very significant.
