Abstract
The UHV power transformer is the main noise source in a UHV power substation. Accurate measurement of the transformer's sound power is very important for noise control of power substation. In this study, the sound pressure based method, the discrete point sound intensity based method, and the scanning sound intensity based method were used to measure the sound power of a 1 000 kV UHV power transformer field. Results show that in the external noise interference and firewall reflecting sound environment, the latter two measurement methods based on sound intensity gain higher accuracy than the sound pressure based measurement method, indicating the two sound intensity based methods are all suitable for in-site sound power measurement of audible noise from the 1 000 kV UHV power transformer. In addition, the scanning sound intensity based method spent the shortest measurement time.
