Abstract
Based on the multidimensional poverty theory, this paper takes the southern part of Shaanxi as a survey site and uses the first hand collected data to explore the impact of out-migration on rural households' multidimensional poverty. The result finds that the relocation households - working households have the lowest multi-dimensional poverty index, and the non-relocation households - nonworkers have the highest multi-dimensional poverty index in the four types of households. The intensity of migrant workers and migrant workers can effectively alleviate the multi-dimensional poverty of farmers' families, that is, households receiving remittances and working hours have a significant positive impact on reducing multi-dimensional poverty, but affected by the sample of non-relocated households, the impact of the intensity of migrant workers on multidimensional poverty is not significant. As an important livelihood activity, out-migration and the extent of migration have positive impacts on relieving households' multidimensional poverty. Comparing with the non-relocation households, the poverty alleviation effect of out-migration in relocated households is more significant.
