Abstract

An oil-free high-speed centrifugal pump that used dynamic fluid lubrication bearings was designed for the optimization of cooling loop and improvement of reliability, in which working fluid lubricated bearings and cooled motor.The high-speed pump was more compact because of the combination of pressure boosting field and cooling circulation.In order to study the internal flow of high-speed pump, the flow characteristics of the pump under different flow rates at design speed were simulated and studied by CFD method.The hydraulic performance of the model pump was experimentally studied on the built test bench.The research shows that the distributions of relative velocity and total pressure in the internal flow passage of high-speed centrifugal pump under design conditions are uniform.The pump head and efficiency calculated by the simulated flow field are close to the experimental values, thus the simulation prediction has high accuracy.The working conditions have a great impact on the hydraulic performance of the pump and the pump needs to avoid running at low flow rates.
