Abstract

Strong-field quantum electrodynamics (SF-QED) provides the core theoretical framework for light-matter interactions in extreme optical fields, where the precise manipulation and efficient transfer of angular momentum (spin and orbital angular momentum) constitute a central topic in current frontier research. This article systematically reviews the latest theoretical advances in generating high-energy polarized and vortex particle beams driven by ultra-intense lasers. The main contents include: (1) schemes for generating and manipulating highly spin-polarized electron and positron beams based on laser plasma or charged particle beam interaction; (2) spin/polarization-dependent dynamics in Compton scattering and Breit-Wheeler processes, and the related generation schemes of polarized γ photons and spin-polarized electron and positrons; (3) the SF-QED theoretical framework for vortex particles, elucidating the microscopic mechanism of quantum spin-to-orbital angular momentum transfer via multiphoton absorption, and theoretical schemes for generating high-energy vortex γ photons and lepton pairs. This review also summarizes the technical challenges faced by current experimental verification, evaluates the feasibility of implementing the relevant physical processes on petawatt-scale laser facilities, and prospects their potential applications in inertial confinement fusion, laboratory astrophysics, high-energy nuclear physics, and future collider physics. This review aims to provide a systematic theoretical reference for research on high-quality particle sources with controllable angular momentum.
