Abstract
In this paper, the flashback process of methane premixed flame in the swirling burner of the University of Texas was simulated based on DTF-LES coupled with a two-step chemical reaction mechanism of methane. The flashback process was simulated under the adiabatic boundary condition and the boundary condition with heat loss considered, separately. Through the comparison of the heat release rate and flashback speed under these two boundary conditions, it was found that the flashback speed obtained with the heat loss considered was closer to the experimental value. The flame formed a tongue-like structure, which moved circumferentially in the flow field direction in the mixing tube and propagated upstream along the central body wall. When the boundary layer flashback was dominant, the circumferential movement of the flame tongue was not obvious.
