Abstract

To enhance the performance of coal-fired power plants and reduce the levelized cost of electricity, the multi-parameter and multi-objective optimization models of the cold-end systems with multi-pressure condensers were developed. With the high-parameter ultra-supercritical power plants as the reference cases, the influence of the number of steam condenser chambers and the areas of the condenser steam chambers on the cold end system were analyzed and the optimal number of condenser chambers, condenser area and cooling water flow rate were obtained. Moreover, the cold-end systems design schemes of power plants with different parameter grades were achieved. According to the analysis of the cold-end systems, the investment increase of multi-pressure cold-end compared with the single-pressure cold-end first decreased and then slowed down as the condenser total area increased. The optimization results of the cold-end systems in the different parameter levels power plants showed that the larger the main steam parameter, the better the economy of the multi-pressure cold-end. When the levelized cost of electricity wass the same, the efficiency of the unit with multi-pressure cold end was greater than that of the single pressure cold end.
