Abstract

To understand the reactivity of dihydroxylammonium-5, 5'-bistetrazole-1, 1'-diolate (TKX-50) under different stimulation methods, the combustion and detonation reactivity of TKX-50 were investigated by using five methods, which were programmed temperature rise (DSC-TG) method, concentrated light ignition experiment, closed bomb test, detonator detonation and pulsed plasma initiation. The results show that the initial decomposition temperature of TKX-50 is 218.87℃. The decomposition process is directly decomposed from solid phase to gas phase, the residual rate after decomposition is 2.85%, and the exothermic value is 2273.91J/g. The combustion reaction time of TKX-50 lasts for 5.5s, and it has experienced three stages: pyrolysis reaction stage (0-3s), combustion stage (3-4s) and reaction termination stage (4-5.5s), and some solid products remain after decomposition. The combustion duration of TKX-50 is 0.91ms, the maximum combustion pressure is 164.2MPa, and the maximum combustion rate is 433.45MPa/ms. The heat of explosion of TKX-50 measured by detonator detonation is 4900J/g, while the heat of explosion measured by pulse plasma initiation is 5320J/g. The detonation products are mainly CO2, CO, CH4, N2O, NH3, C, etc, showing that there is a large difference for the reactivity of TKX-50 with different stimulation methods, and the reaction under the constant heat and plasma strong stimulation is more complete.
