Abstract

Effect of non-condensable gas on pressure oscillation intensity of submerged steam jet was studied experimentally. The study finds that the steam condensation flow patterns of submerged steam jet change significantly when there is a small amount of non-condensable gas. The pressure oscillation intensity of submerged steam jet containing non-condensable gas is significantly smaller than that of pure steam. The pressure oscillation intensity increases slowly with the air mass fraction, decreases monotonously with the increase of the radial distance and increases first and then decreases gradually with the increase of the axial distance. As the air mass fraction increases, the axial position of pressure oscillation intensity peak shifts downstrem. The peak position is between the axial dimensionless distance X=3 and X=12. At different subcooled water temperatures, the peak trend varies differently with the air mass fraction. The peak position, i. e., the position of the strongest pressure oscillation intensity, is located at the tail of the core steam plume.
